If it’s prior to closing and no tax liability, apply for a Withholding Certificate.

First, complete the form including proof of purchase and sale costs (original purchase price and resale price). Then mail the proof of purchase along with the contract or settlement statements to the address below.

❷ 

Hawaii will then send a Withholding Certificate that you will forward to your Title Agent.

❸ 

Tell your Title Agent you are using DVC Harpta as your HARPTA agent.

After closing, and within the same calendar year.
With or without Tax Liability

If filing after closing, complete file N-288C

❶ 

Mail to the address below the completed form including proof of purchase and sale costs (original purchase price and resale price) along with resale contract or settlement statement.

❷ 

Tell your Title Agent you are using DVC Harpta as your HARPTA agent.

❸ 

The State of Hawaii will issue you a refund check in 3-4 months.

Transaction closed in the previous calendar year.

If you’ve not completed the tax form in the same calendar year, you must now complete the N-15

❶ 

Mail to the address below the completed form including proof of original purchase (contract or settlement statement) as well as resale purchase.

❷ 

The State of Hawaii will issue you a refund check in 3-4 months.
